Enough to Make Me Hate

May 1st, 2007

The internet has stabbed me in the back. I got an email today that my eBay account had probably been compromised. Thank God for that. I went on and changed my password, and then noticed that a bunch (like 20) auctions had been started from my account for golf clubs. GRRR. So I canceled them. Then I noted that those auctions had increased my fees from ebay to $62.25. Bigger GRRRR. So I have emails sent to eBay trying to get this all resolved and removed from my account bill and i’m working through the sites that I use and changing all my passwords. I don’t know how they accessed my account. I really hope it was just an insecure password on ebay. I don’t click on emails to verify information. That would just make me really mad. Oh, so mad. I will be checking my emails to make sure I didn’t get suckered by an email from someone who was “asking a question about an auction”.

I was going to go to bed, but apparently instead I’m going to make up a bunch of random passwords and start changing all of mine again. I hate doing this all at once since it makes accessing all my sites slower. Stupid eBay. You are not my friend.

  1. I’m sorry to hear about that. :( I hope you get everything straightened out, and that your eBay account stays intact. I’ve been an eBay user for a long time, and it would suck to throw my positive feedback down the drain.

Do you think the PayPal/eBay keyfob I reviewed would have helped in your situation? If you intend to continue to use either service you might consider this gadget as an option.
