C == F?
November 16th, 2005
I don’t think this is only IUSB’s problem. When did the almighty F get upgraded? At least the work required for it. You have to really try to get an F in most classes, especially the “soft” sciences. My last test for s163 (Social Problems) was a joke. A poorly masked joke at that. Seriously, if I can achieve 95% without buying 1 of the 2 books, never open the other, and only show up for 75% of the classes, how is that worthwhile? I’m paying for IU to postpone my grade in the offchance that I seriously destroy my GPA.
By making C, average/satisfactory work, the bare minimum, what is a D? less than satisfactory? Why is that okay for a class? Really, it shouldn’t count as a passing grade. There is no reason that it should be a credit to your graduation that you were unable to muster an average performance.
It’s sad. It also points out why we outsource more professional jobs now. We don’t educate professionals anymore
